Wheel Nuts

Postby dave.c » 21 Feb 2010 18:46

Hi All
Just had some tyres fitted to my MGF wheels and asked if he had any nuts too , he suggested ford nuts.
Does anyone know if Ford Alloy wheel nuts are suitable for MGF wheels
as they seem to be a lot cheaper second hand.

If it's the right thread & the right shape then it's the right nut. I had always thought that wheel nuts where more specific to the wheel rather than the car brand.

Just make sure you have enough thread holding the wheel on & that the nuts hold the wheel against the hub correctly. The MGF wheels I use that requires a shanked nut otherwise the depth of the thread used is less than the diameter of the stud which I'm told is the minimum rule.

"If it's the right thread & the right shape then it's the right nut."

Sound advice. The PCD of our hubs are shared only with MG /Austin Rover products such as the MGF and Maestro / Montego so the threads may well be unique as well. Which style of MGF wheels have you got?http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/wheel_options_for_the_mgf.htm

Someone here may well have the same wheels fitted on to their 7 and tell you which nuts worked for them.
