TR7 Coup headlining

Hi all,

I'm preparing to replace the headlining in my TR7 coupe with edrose full length sunroof. I have a new lining from Rimmers and the complete sunroof frame, but was wondering if anyone had any pictures of what the finished job is supposed to look like.... I simply can;t find any photos online for reference!

I'm pretty sure I know how it goes together, but would just appreciate if anyone could help me - just one or two pics of the sunroof from inside, showing in particular the relationship between headlining material and aluminium sunroof surround would be great.

Is the sunroof original to the car?
If not, you'll also need stiffening profiles which are welded around the sunroof's aperture.

Hi all,

The sunroof is a genuine TR7 edrose unit, but not original to the car - (I removed a pretty poorly fitting pop-up unit and cut the hole larger to suit)

I imagine it would be pretty easy to fabricate a profile around the apeture (wasn't aware I would need these!) but again any photographs would help me!

Have been looking in my piccie archive but none clear enough.
Next time when I am in the shed to work on the DHC I'll try not to forget to take a few piccies of a bare shell with original sunroof hole [:D]

here the two photo`s i got from my car.

This is new headlining, with foam insulation between lining supports. it took i think 2 days to get to this result. Careful measuring and trying, etc. [:0]

Not a big hurry, thanks.

I think I'd be able to manage to stiffen the roof aperture by welding some narrow guage steel angles to the inside - I have a bead roller which I could probably use to get the shape right before fitting, and I can use the alumium sunroof frame as a guide. Shouldn't be too difficult in theory.

I can see how missing the structure here was causing my problem with the headlining fit - will let you know how I go

Thanks Beans - that's exactly what I needed. I'm still probably a week or so away from tackling it further, but will post some pics to show you how it turns out.
