Power Wash 28 Years of Dirt

Postby FI Spyder » 29 Apr 2008 23:14

I power washed the rear and under side of car this afternoon washing away 28 years of dirt. You can see original factory markings of crayon on right lower link.

In this shot you can see red markings of original springs, still good after all these years (front ones were sagging and were replaced.) You can see where the differential was originally orange but was later painted black. Some of the black paint came off were presumably some oil spilled out on it. Under side looks much better than the camera actually shows. Needs respray of anti chip on rocker panels and a touch up of undercoat in places. The only thing that realy needs attention is the rear anti sway bar. (What will I do next winter?)

Other than the anti sway bar there is no rust under the car. It a camera thing. See link below

That's quite incredibly well preserved after 28 years! Dry climate?

Next week my DHC is going to have the underside power washed & then waxoiled. I hope it looks as good as yours when all the dirt is off - somehow I doubt it though.

That is the factory applied colour code for the CWP ratio. IN this case red for a 3.90:1 ratio.

B.t.w. very sound looking under side [;)]
