Help from a USA based member please

Postby Jolyon39 » 30 Jul 2009 05:06

I purchased a panel off ebay and the vendor can not find an economic freight service (Fedex is $1,000) Too big for USPS

1. In case the seller regrets selling it so cheap (he did sell it real cheap). Can you suggest any alternate freight forwarders that will send a front turret assembly to Auckland, New Zealand

2. Would one of you look after it for me until I find someone travelling to NZ from the US who will carry it for me??? I will just pay the guy and shipo it to you. You would need to courier it to the person travelling when I arrange it. (I can pay you via PayPal or Western Union Money Order.)

Can you help?

regards,

Jolyon

There are several outfits here in OZ that import cars and parts from the US for people so I assume there would be someone in NZ that does the same thing, even if they don't advertise that they ship parts if they ship cars there will be room in the container for parts so it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Jolyon , your turret will actually be alot less weight than the subframe. I have three NOS turret assemblies and the 3 are not nearly as heavy as the subframe by itself. You're paying mostly for the bulkyness and size.

Do you know exactly where the seller is located in the US (east, west, north, etc.)? If you do decide to drop ship it to someone (I could hold it for you), then you would probably save a lot of money if the person was close to the seller.

I am located in Richmond, Virginia, A couple of hours south of Washington D.C. on the east coast.

Good luck.

Hi,

It is located in Berkley, United States

I guess that must be California

Anyone in California?

Blackadder:

What are the dimensions of the inner turret assembly? I am having trouble getting this guy to give me weight and dimensions. I am guessing from this that he is rgretting selling it so cheap. By the way, Good research identifying the panel I purchased

I am one state away in Arizona, but it is still around 700 miles from me (California is big). My zip code is 85222 if you need that for any shipping calculations.

Let me know if I can help.

The vendor states that DHL no longer operates in the US

I will take one of you guys up on holding the item for me until I secure shipping for it.

Look at this message from him:

<<<<<I don't think DHL is an option for us here anymore as they have quit the USA. They don't deliver here any more, but perhaps they offer international shipments.>>>>>

Hi there, Jolyon!
I am in CA and am just over 3 hours away from Berkley. My zip is 93245. I would be happy to help out if you still need a place for your panel to hang out before it gets sent over to New Zealand. Let me know if I can be of assistance! --Monica

Hi Jolyon If you go on to the DHL website you can get a quote for DHL to pick up and deliver the part door to door.If your happy with the quote all you do is order a pick up. You can make all the arrangements while sitting in front of your computer they will email paperwork to you and all you need to do is email it to the guy you bought the part of he put it on the parcel and DHL pick it up, I have done this a couple of times now but it was parts from the UK not the USA.

Hello, Jolyon. I live in Reno, Nevada. About 3 huors from Berkley. I also have a good friend here who is Kiwi. His dad owns an interior shop in Henderson. Let me call him and see if they have a container going anytime soon. I'll post back after I talk to him. Cheers, Scott

Thanks John, Scott and the rest of you

I am reading these and am keen to follow up.

The container to NZ sounds like a great idea Scott. That would be just perfect as I live very close to Henderson. NZ is a small place but Henderson is only 20 mins from home and I am there all the time.

I have an update on his address, it is Berkley, Michigan. No where near California but I can get him to ship it anywhere in the US as a staging point.

regards

Jolyon
