TR7V8 Rally Car on Top Gear

Postby Steve-LPS-Thomas » 26 Jul 2009 21:17

Yes really.. The Rally of Majorca, when Richard Hammond is broken down with his co-driver stuck out of the engine, a Red/White/Blue TR7V8 comes past.

I was looking out for one as I have seen footage of it on YouTube already.

Add in several tracks from My Man Jimi Hendrix (Burning of the Midnight Lamp and Third Stone from The Sun)

And Santana (Soul Sacrifice)

AND.. on the docks, behind Jeremy Clarksons "pieces to camera" the large Pale Yellow Motor Yacht in the backgound... Captained and managed by my sister and her husband!!! Yes Really!

Needless to say..best TG Ever..and then some!

Steve

Hi Steve,
Watched it too and 'thought that was a TR8' [:D] [:D] [:D] sounded the dogs danglies [:D] I thought i also caught a glimpse of it in Parc Ferme as well [?]
James May co driver was easy on the eye as well [;)] As i said before they have one of the best jobs in the world, driving classic cars around a lovley island with a stunning blonde co-driver (bad luck Hammond and Gezza [:p] ) and getting paid for it!!
Cheers John

It was Rockingham/Mehta. Here is another photo:

One report on the rally reported "ever young Yvonne Mehta was co-driving Steve Rockingham's ex-works British Airways liveried Triumph TR8".

trouble is, as far as James and his co driver were concerned, I could not help thinking about eskimos and fridges, but I suppose that was the point. Proud to say my 10 year old spotted the TR8 almost as quickly as I did.
