We allow the new Mini's in all our shows (for what might have been sake). We don't have any MGF's over here but if we did we'd have to allow them as well (or face an uprising from the MG crowd).[:D]

Debatable point this, but the Jaguar XJS Convertible and Cabriolet remained in production and was of british origin through the late 70s, 80's and into the early 90s. During its production run the co. was of course bought by ford, but the XJS was an existing part of the line up.

The problem is that now in the global economy world we live in you simply cannot mass produce cars and be a one country company, various companies, design houses and components are manufactured in various places around the world and you would be surprised at how British some very foreign cars actually are - take Nissan for instance!

Yes, I've heard and read that BMW and Chrysler teamed up to develope the engine to go in the Mini and Chrysler Neon.

Rove may have been owned by BMW at the time of first production but it was developed while owned by British Aerospace.

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">Without much help from BAe. I believe it was initially a 'skunkworks' design. Note that BMW also had a hand in the design before it was released. I was told that the windscreen surround was redesigned at BMW's behest.
