<font face="Comic Sans MS">Yes, the 4" dia. bung that goes into the four jig locator holes does look like a paint tin lid. One of mine was missing and I searched all sorts of tins for a correct match, I didn`t fancy the plain aftermarket disc[V]
As luck would have it the perfect size came from the metal ends of Remy Martin Cognag bottle sleeve-now there`s lucky[:o)] </font id="Comic Sans MS">

3. On the (US) driver side, there is a 2" x 4" (or so) plastic tag that is attached by a wire loop to a small plate near the base of the seat. The wire goes under the plate and is clamped in place by bolts from the outside of the car. I can't see anything written on the tag, but one side of the tag is painted in the body color.

I am continuing to strip down the car and found out
more about the tag.

In case there was any doubt, this tag was installed
when the chassis was built. The wire that the tag is
attached with is looped through a hole in the tag
and the ends of the wire goes under a plate that is
spot welded in place. The plate also has captured
nut for bolting an exhaust hanger bracket on the
underside of the car.

I can't believe that my car is the only car to have
one of these tags and no one can tell me what it
is for.

Sometimes a tag is just a tag.
