I've never been able to drive my TR7, but I get a great feeling just looking at it, thinking about driving it, or sitting in it. It's simply fun!

At 56 years old, I just love the whole idea of it - maybe it's become my poor man's E-type or Maserati or maybe purely nostalgia. In the '70s I had various imports (i.e. European for a Canadian), and I was always looking for the unusual. Who wants a no-problem, common-place car? Not me! I want something that other people don't understand, haven't seen, or even dislike! Plus something that actually handled (and nothing American did at that time...).

I think these people who trash the Wedge are ready to trash anything they don't have a feel for. I have a friend who writes car articles for various mags and papers, and he has realized that you have to discover what people are into, whether it be hot rods, muscle cars, "thoroughbreds," or original condition, everyday classics. When you really do that, you think "yeah, I get it", even if it is not really your thing. You appreciate the details, the differences, the era, the peseverance, the ingenuity, or the engineering...whatever.

Scuze my ramble - just an attempt to understand what I feel about my Wedge, and why some people put other's tastes down.

It's all about taste. Some people's only taste is in their mouth!

I sold the '57 TR3 that I lovingly restored in order to get and restore my TR8. Most thought I was nuts (I am, of course, but not because of THAT!), but upon finishing the 3, driving it a few years, showing it, etc., decided it wasn't "doing it" for me. Had a ride in a TR8, and saw several nice Wedges at VTR in Chicago, and I was hooked.

Again, most who slam the Wedges don't get it. And that's OK.

Why do you guys (some of you, anyway) get so worked up over this? Is this some sort of news to you? Lets check some facts:

- There are some "writers" out there who dislike TR7s
- They like to share their feelings with others.
- This has been going on since mid 70’s
- This will probably go on indefinitely.

I am pretty sure that EVERYONE here knows this...

So if you feel like you need to defend the TR7s in front of other (non TR7/TR8) people, fine, do it in their forums. What do you think will be accomplished by rehashing this among TR7 fans? Just to get all upset about some idiot?

Speaking for myself here, I do not feel I am "trying to defend the TR7", I don't have to. What really gets my goat is that when these morons do put the proverbial pen to paper, they generally use inaccurate information that has been previously cobbled together by other totally mis-informed morons.

I don't care how many people like or dislike the TR7, I know how long it's been going on for and have no issue with it continuing. But if they must keep reiterating the same ignorant, uninformed rubbish then I will get totally p155ed off. I'm like that!
