Spyder , how could u possibly drive 10 hours at 50mph? !!!
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

It wasn't by choice. Driving back on my thousand mile trip bringing it home from Sacramento I had a shimey at 55mph due to bad tires so I had to keep it 50 to 52. I had three days before I could present it to US Customs at the border anyway (to give them time to check for liens and make sure it wasn't stolen) before they would release it to go across.

Had a similar experience coming back from Portland as I couldn't go over 55 mph due to debris (as it turned out) in the intake of the fuel pump (it would overheat and bog). Was passed by a Stag flying past and I so wanted to pursue but couldn't.

Before I took her off the road my TR7 covertible was getting 34mpg as average, Standard 2.0l car. This is a 45 mile journey mix of A & B roads and 20 miles of motorway at 70+ mph, not conservative motoring. Running on ordinary unleaded fuel.

This compared to 36mpg from the overdrive 1500 Spitfire I currently use. Back in the late seventies/early 80's the best I got from Spitfires was 29-30mpg average apart from a cross europe trip where I was able to get 44mpg in a non overdrive Spitfire MkIV. The MkIV non overdrive Spit would only cruise happily at 60mph but did max at 90mph in Switzerland. I cruise the Spitfire 1500 at 70-75 in ovedrive for 36mpg.

I've got really quite good mpg in the past but at the moment on Fuelly my average is 28.8 mpg. It should go up in the summer though. I get over 50 mpg out of our other btwo cars so I don't really worry!

x2

I've never really bothered to calculate my seven's fuel economy.......

(though, on trips if i remember properly, it gets about 400km to a tank of gas when driven at reasonable speeds)

That's not very much Ron, on my trip from California I got 405 mi+ on one tank, Redding, CA to Wilsonville, OR plus some running around town trying to find Fry's electronics (finally did.)

really ...I didn't find it that bad ! Montreal-Ottawa and back in a tank is not unreasonable in my book [?] especially with the roof down, and reasonable speed being anywhere from 100 to 120 kmph.
