I think this the best solution, not the easiest.

I totally agree Henk

I was in the scrap yard looking at the weekend but cant find anything

Thin enough yet I have a spare bumper so I might still go down this road

If I could find a light and surround thin enough

I have seen these words many times and can't seem to understand what you mean.
"Rear Fog Lights"
On this side of the pond we only use fog lights to see in front of the car. So, I'm convinced even the TR7 can't go that fast backwards [:D]

High intensity rear lights (for use in fog/bad weather) so the wally driving too close behind can see you from 100yards back instead of his normal 10 feet!

The lights in the picture posted by Henk look to me like they're off a Nissan Sunny (not sure what years they were current for but there is a B-reg (1984/5) one that lives in my road). I took a close up shot of another TR7 converted in this way, I'll have to dig the picture out.

The actual lights are the same as the Nissan Micra of the same sort of time but on the Micra they don't have the plastic surround as they fit directly into the bumper.

I thougt it's the same surround as the front indicators.

Those bumper mounted fog lights look like Triumph Acclaim to me, very neat [8D]

If it's got tits or tyres then it's gonna cost ya!
