Guess What I Found?

Postby FI Spyder » 10 Mar 2010 00:58

On removing the left lower link today I found a unused nylock nut in the lower link exactly like the ones on the car (grey nylon insert) but a little more patina (not rusty). I'm guessing the assembler dropped one in there and just got another one from the bin and it's been stting there for thirty years. Nice of Triumph to leave spare parts scattered around the car for use when needed sometime down the line.[:)] I needed it as I rounded one off when not careful when removing the other side. I'll bet MG isn't that concerned with customer service.[:D]

Skoda provides tools with it's cars.
Back in 89 I bought a new Skoda 135GLI and found an awl under the rear carpet.
I'll bet the installer was wondering where that went![:D]

I'm with you guys on this. I have about 8-10 washers that have been painted over inside the door and someone else here had a cigarette pack stuck to some fresh paint inside the trunk. Thanks Speke[;)]

Geez, and all I found when I took mine apart for restoration was a mouse carcass in the wiring chase near the windshield! [xx(]

Put a door skin on an early 70s Buick once a looong time ago. Found a stryofoam coffee cup inside the door with the GM emblem on it. GM mark of excellence.[:D]

Took the cover plate off a March 1980 convertible (The one underneth the fuel filler in the boot) and there was the front page of "The Sun" newspaper from around the build date stuffed in there.

it may not be lazy people dumping there rubbish
I'm in building trade an find all sorts, old ciggarette packets stuffed with old newspaper cuttings and buisness cards (under floorboards behind brickwork etc.)from the builder who did the job originally.

dont think of it as rubbish but, think of it as capsules
(that should have read "TIME" capsules)

I have a bicycle reflector positioned carefully in my engine....to
give a little extra light prehaps. I keep meaning to take it off, but it seems to belong there.

My car is a '79. While disassembling the interior I found a '79 US penny on the rail under the radio. Hmmm. Someone felt the need to try to enhance their luck with a "luck penny." I'm not superstitious but I've decided leave it there.
