My car has the dreaded front bumper droop at the sides

I know all about removing the weights and fitting a FHC bumper

but I don't want to do any of that

(as far as I know it has a new front pin)

The end bits are held on by a simple bolt and clamp system so something has either come loose or fallen off. It will be easier to inspect & repair if you take the whole bumper off. It only takes a few minues to remove the 6 bolts that hold it on. Disconnect the indicator connections first.

Bumper Brackets

Convertible drivers will at least know the symptom, deep down hanging bumper corners. The reason for this are disintegrating bumper brackets.

These were developed to record vibrations of the vehicle and elemenieren what should be done through a between two steel plates vulcanized rubber bearings.

Bumper bracket new and old dimensioning

To make it short, test the experimental division of Mercedes Benz, however, showed that they could not find any such function / effect.

Since the original, at least for now, are no longer available I decided to train them on the basis of rigid Aluflachmaterial 100 x 30 mm. The approach to the CNC machine and dimensions you can find below:

Image

* to 28 mm thickness
* 2 x Ø 9 / 24.5 and 3 x M8
* Core hole drilled Ø 6.8 x 19 mm deep
* Drilled threaded M8 x 16 mm deep
* consistently drilled 2 x Ø 9
* 24.5 x 24 mm deep
* Reduction of drilling burr
* By means of milling around
1,5 x 450 gefräst 1.5 x 450 milled
* Dumping 3x Bolt M8x21mm

If that happens then everything Spanish and want to make it easier for themselves, the parts for 70, (the couple) plus shipping for the TR7 IG received.

The need for this order form, click here!

Finally, to note that there is left and right parts, ie the drawing for the counter-part to take is a mirror image.

Letz do it! Letz do it!

My front bumper on the 8 did not droop, but I hated the way it shook
with engine vibration.

My son & I pulled the led weights out of it before christmas. The
shaking has greatly reduced.

I have been well aware of the talk of scuttle shake, & was looking
for any change. There has been absolutely no change in scuttle
shake, with the removal.

My son had no idea what I was talking about, when I mentioned
scuttle shake. Now, however, after driving my new [to me] Ford Capri
convertible, he now knows what I'm talking about.

One of my bumper mounts was disintegrating giving the droop. Replaced them both with solid mounts from S&S. Solved the problem, I also removed the weights, I think they become irelevant once you fit solid mounts.
