Hey! Ease up on Buzz already!!! He's being honest with us. As I have seen many times here and other places, we all have different tastes and ideas of what we like. He has put together a rat-rod out of a TR7. So What? I think the wedge shape kind of grows on you after you have learned the car isn't the junk it is reputed to be, so give him a break.

That's my .02 worth

I'll guess by your complete butchery of the English language that you are in the UK. Do you guys use horsepower as a measurement of power there? Foot pounds of torque and such? Just curious as to how much your car is putting out, and if you have dyno readouts to back that up. I'm not saying it's NOT more than mine - just saying I'd be extremely impressed if it was.

And as for why I bought a car that I didn't like the looks of, I already answered that - it was $200. Is there honestly someone here that has watched that video and would describe that car as good looking? Barf!

As for the implications that I'm some sort of a "troll" just coming to stir up trouble, that's certainly not the case. I asked a pretty simple question, and I think was pretty respectfull about how I stated that I did not particularly care for the looks of this model of vehicle. People got butthurt, and yes, I did call the car "fugly" after that. I apologize, that was out of line.

...but I still think they're fugly.

Buzz bomb

If you are looking for a different look for your TR7 try this site out.

I have not seen this on a convertible but you could be the first.

Thanks, Dale. I saw that kit and was somewhat intrigued - but I'm kind of looking for something a little less angular. From what the experts here have said, the Group 44 kit (the one you just posted) is pretty much the only game in town as far as body kits for this model.

So for now I'm considering my options. Chances are I'll probably just sell the whole thing as-is, but I may end up getting crazy, tearing the body panels off altogether, and trying to retrofit another style of body kit onto this frame and see what happens. But like I said, chances are it goes on Ebay or Craigslist or something, and that I'll take the proceeds from that and buy a Spitfire and try to shove a big engine into it.

When I first started this project, looks were not a concern at all. My budget was my first concern, and the second concern was going really, really, really, really fast and having a lot of fun. I accomplished that and stayed in budget. Now my priorities have changed and I want something that looks more like what I want.

Thanks again.

This post is a joke right? Who in their right mind would by a wedge and want to turn it into a Beetle (Porsche)? Lots of people have put various power plants in and there is lots of performance, suspension upgrades. Remember this is the car that dominated Corvette and Porsche on the race track in 1980 despite being the only car assessed a 400 lb weight penalty. And regardless of the engine you put in you're not likely be able to beat the TR7V8 LeMans car clocked at over 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight (twin turbocharged Rover V8 at around 600hp (1980).

It's true some people don't like wedges, including TVR, Ferrari, Lotus, etc. and prefer the rounded shape of Porsche, Citroen, Toyota Supra, Volkswagon etc.

There are old NOS body kits around, mostly in UK, but they emulate, actentuate the wedge, don't change it. The car is monocoque and doesn't have a frame so you can't take off body parts and put other ones on "the frame" as that is the frame. The kits are just fiberglass bolt on parts that fit over existing body for the most part.

Oh, by the way, I get 20 "great looking car" for every "don't like the styling" comment. And the kids who haven't had a chance to become prejudiced all say "nice sportscar mister".

Yeah F1 the beetle bit is my way of having a joke, to be fair Buzz never mentioned the beetle he just said he was after something more rounded and I just took it to an extreme. After all there's not much rounder that a bloody beetle! So please don't give the poor bloke any pain on the beetle front, unless of course he says he likes the idea of a beetle kit for a TR7 then by all means be my guest![:D]
