This post is a joke right? Who in their right mind would by a wedge and want to turn it into a Beetle (Porsche)? Lots of people have put various power plants in and there is lots of performance, suspension upgrades. Remember this is the car that dominated Corvette and Porsche on the race track in 1980 despite being the only car assessed a 400 lb weight penalty. And regardless of the engine you put in you're not likely be able to beat the TR7V8 LeMans car clocked at over 200 mph on the Mulsanne straight (twin turbocharged Rover V8 at around 600hp (1980).
It's true some people don't like wedges, including TVR, Ferrari, Lotus, etc. and prefer the rounded shape of Porsche, Citroen, Toyota Supra, Volkswagon etc.
There are old NOS body kits around, mostly in UK, but they emulate, actentuate the wedge, don't change it. The car is monocoque and doesn't have a frame so you can't take off body parts and put other ones on "the frame" as that is the frame. The kits are just fiberglass bolt on parts that fit over existing body for the most part.
Oh, by the way, I get 20 "great looking car" for every "don't like the styling" comment. And the kids who haven't had a chance to become prejudiced all say "nice sportscar mister".
