You know it's MOT time when.........

Postby busheytrader » 13 Oct 2009 04:25

You're about to book the MOT but it's a sunny day and you take the TR out for a quick blast first. You flash your lights to let someone pull out but nothing on the LH stalk works. No headlight lifts, flash or horns. They both worked fine the day before........brilliant.

The headlights work fine from the main headlight switch and both horns were replaced back in the spring so it's chase the connection time........

Might not be the answer for you, but I had no headlight lift a few months ago, so I took the stalk apart, cleaned the contacts and increased the contact spaces a bit and then all was OK.
Not too sure if it is what you need as all of your side is down and not just one issue like mine, but good luck.
Always around MOT time hay??

Know the feeling well. MOT's and long trips /holidays (abroad usually) always encourage problems to invent themselves [:D]

This is what happens with weekend cars. They sit there all week thinking up ways to amuse themselves.

Last MOT I put mine through, it developed a problem where the brake lights were stuck on, somewhere between my final checks (just before driving to the station) and the MOT test itself.
I'm not entirely convinced the tester didn't create that fault himself - he didn't look too impressed when I fixed it in the car park and went back in for the retest 2 minutes later! [;)]

The ultimate 'oh you b*****d' moment, though, has to go to my old Astra. Checked the thing over, all good, drove to the test station, parked up outside, went to put the handbrake on, when the cable promptly snapped. Failure right there. [B)]
