Fuel pump orientation

Postby macmattom » 11 Oct 2009 17:35

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="2"><font color="blue">Can anybody help with a really noddy question - which is the inlet and which is the outlet connections on the standard fuel pump? I <i><b>think</b></i>, according to a photo I took, that the top is the inlet and the bottom is the outlet, but if anybody can confirm this, it could save me maybe some time and also some embarassment [:I].

I've added the pictures of when I took the engine out so you can see what I mean.

For some reason your pump looks a little different to the memory of mine, but I have just come back from the pub. The top is the inlet. If you take the screw out the top comes off to reveal the filter.

As Alan already stated the top is the inlet.

And your pump indeed looks a bit strange with the outlet sitting on the opposite side from a normal pump ...

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="2"><font color="blue">Cheers guys. Beans, I have to agree now I've seen yours. I did take the top off a while ago to realign it but seem to recall I couldn't change the orientation. I'll take another look this weekend while I'm fitting an in-line filter and let you know - could be a cuckoo in the nest [:0].

Thanks,
