How many miles/Kms has your 7 done?

Postby Hasbeen » 05 Sep 2009 05:38

Following on from the what's your location, & pinched from another
forum, give us the details of your Triumph.

So here's my 7.

Bought 2002, as a non runner. Milage 10000Km on clock.

Put on road april 2003, as a daily driver.

Today, just ticked over to 160000Km, about 7000Km per year.

Best drive. 74Km of gravel road in northern NSW. WOW!!!

Longest drive. 2550Km in 4 days, to an historic meeting & back.

Longest single drive, 1130Km, in 11.5 hours, Bathurst to home, after
a 45 year car club reunion.

Do you still go for a drive to nowhere, just because you love it?
YES, of course, but I do it more often in the 8, because it's less
suitable for daily driving, mostly worried about paint chips.

How long will you keep it?
If it wouldn't be such a waste, I'd be buried in it, but it'll
probobly go to the boy, who also loves it.

DHC bought 1988 as my daily driver with around 130.000Km on the clock.
When laid up in 1998 the clock stood at 274.492km
Should be ready after restoration by the end of this year

FHC bought in 1993 to break for parts with 73.933km on the clock.
But was to good to scrap so after restoration back on the road in 1997
Covered in total 166.275km by now

As I have learned on a couple of rallies, the odometer on mine skips some miles here & there. Makes for interesting navagation.[B)] I think it reads around 80 thou but have no real idea the actual miles. Probably doesn't matter since dang near the whole car has either been rebuilt or replaced.[;)]

Bought 2005 - a present to myself after splitting up with my wife. No clue what the mileage was then.

Current mileage 71596.5 (got the fascia sat on the bench next to me [:)])

Best drive: Round Britain run, heading out of Thurso into the back end of nowhere.

Longest drive: Round Britain run, 2000 miles in 2 days.

Longest single drive: No idea actually, would have been somewhere on the RBRR. Other than that, most of my 'long' runs have been in the 100-150 mile range.

Do you still go for a drive to nowhere, just because you love it?
No, but that's more to do with the fact that it's up on axle stands, mid-resto. Once it gets back on the road, then yes, definitely.

How long will you keep it?
Until it dies, or until I die. Whichever comes first.

True enough - when I got the car it had a different engine and gearbox, and I soon replaced the axle. The front bearings were done a couple of years before I got it, so that's pretty much all the important running gear swapped. In the course of this resto, it's all being replaced again.
