I would have loved a new fuel tank, however, 6 years ago I was
quoted A$800 for a new one, X UK, or A$900 for a locally made alloy
tank. Shipping air, in the form of empty fuel tanks, around the
world, or even Oz, is very expensive is seems.
As there is only so much one can spend on an old car, I repaired the
old one. It's not that hard, if the rust is all internal.
If it is internal, it will be only in a narrow strip, across the
tank, at the bottom front, or it has been in all those I have worked
on, here in Oz. Cutting this out, & replacing with new
metal is much easier than many of the body repairs I see many of you
do on your cars. Some of you do things I can only dream of, so you
could this easily.
Just my two pence worth.
