I think it's a shame to put a V8 in such a good looking Speke car. But at least it's survived this long and will continue for a good while yet. So well done!

Interesting shots of the heater with dash removed.

I've rebuilt a replacement heater box from 2 others with new rubber pipe seals, stainless pipes and foam. Propshaft, remote gearbox housing bushes and rear axle pinion seal renewal all prevented me from swapping it with the duff heater in the last few weeks. Now the good weather's here I might not change it for a couple of months!

Good luck buddy, once apart they seem to take a lot longer to put back. This one took 12 years and was registered in December 1977.[8D][8]

Apart from the bits required for the V8 conversion and a few odds and ends that are worth keeping for spares the red car will be parted out and its remains will then be up for grabs. I guess that means the seats are available, the seats are red/black check but the door cards are all black.

I had my fingers crossed for tan but red check is a better match than my green[B)].I may also need the carpet as mine seems to be a puzzle of cut offs from carpet world[:D].Also I have two left door pulls so one of mine is upsidedown.I may need other odd bits of trim so let me know what and when is available with prices please. Also you general location would help as If you are in the outer hebrides or something then it's a bit too far for me[:p].Good luck with your resto' I have had many problems with so called specialists so wish I could DIY[:(].You are making lightning progress I have waited 8 weeks for a Triumph specialist to fit a fuel tank[:0]

Shell is now virtually bare, few cables left to remove and wiring, got the shell mounted on the turnover frame and rolled it over gently for access to underside. One stubborn bolt stopping rear arm coming out,it will receive the grinder treatment tomorrow. Will start cleaning underside to remove old underseal prior to media blasting, crucial areas appear to be pretty solid [:D].

cheers, Paul

I thought for one horrible moment that the red car was my first TR7 bought in 1979 I think. It's reg was WTA629S I think. Both TA and TT being Devon plates. I also had a DHC with 543 in the number, hence the heart stopping moment. I would have expected WTA629S to have departed this world a long time ago.

At around that time there were lots of Java green TR7's about and I thought that it was the most disgusting colour. Now I absolutely love it and look forward to the day I own a TR in this colour. Please don't change it! I used to hate FHC's too but now I prefer them to DHC's. I used to hate the build quality of Speke cars but now....

I need one of those rotisseries to use with the car fully assembled! No more long hours on my back on the cold concrete floor.

Good luck with the resto.

Do you want to sell the stand that you have your car on when you have finished with it?

Paul,

For an early TR7 it looks pretty solid, but make sure you treat all suspect areas properly, especially the rear of the floor section, rear axle pick up points, boot floor/spare wheel well and the rear chassis legs.
Just found a few (very tiny) rust holes on my DHC in these areas, which looked much more solid than yours before shot blasting.
