TR7 HT LEADS QUESTION

Hi guys, i just wanted to ask, as i needed some new HT Leads and saw these on fleabay, a week or so ago, which i bought old stock but new, now i havent tried them on my 7 as of yet as i havent had a chance as they arrived today, he assured me they are compatible with the 2 Litre engine, my only query was that the rubber ends that connect into the head look differnt from the longer style rubber tubes ends, has anyone else fitted this type to their 7 or 8?

I put in Accel Yellow 8.5mm stainless steel wound core performance cables. Remember to set your spark gap on the plugs.

The spark plug boot ends in my kit were OK. But I had to clean & reuse the distributor end caps since those are unique to English cars.

Steve, the only requirement of the ends is that they fit snugly & preferably that the boots cover the metal contact. Looks like with your leads the elbowed end goes on the plug.

Do the HT leads have a typical lifespan? Or are they like oil and can be used indefinately. [:D]

Peter to be honest, i thought the elbow end goes on the plug, havent tried them yet myself, most HT leads ive seen on the 7, or indeed 8 have the long rubber boot on the leads, but like you say aslong as they fit correctly hopefully all will be well, i will let you all know when i try them this week hopefully

My car is still running on it's original green Ripaults plug leads, with no problems at all. I have however changed the oil ..........[:)]

I would prefer angled plug boots on my leads. I don't like the way the long straight ones push up against each other. That looks like a recipe for problems.
Around here all of the parts shops only carry complete kits, and of course if you mention "TR7" they look at you like you have 2 heads.
I see the local speed shop sells wire kits which have all the bits to make up your own wires. Of course, they are all for V8s so I will end up with a spare set if I go that route.

Hi rich, i bought these as i say of ebay for a good price, but as of yet i havent had chance to try them out, only reason i was changing them was i had a couple of dodgy HT leads, and thought instead of trying to change 2 why not change the whole set, if it dont work it was only a £5 ive lost out in, if you dont try you dont get to know! [:D]
