so it took me about a day to fit them both (i ran into some "difficulties")

So to move the car i had to jump start it, i had neglected to run it in a few weeks to keep the battery charged

the next photo is of the main unit bolted in ( it doesn't have the cover on it just yet)

This is where most of my time got wasted, when i removed the passenger side belt unit, i unbolted the main unit of the mounting bracket, the removed the bracket from the chassis. however when i removed the drivers side i just unbolted the bracket with the unit attached (which was no problem as i had a mate holding the belt) but when i pulled it out of the car he let go and the socket wrench got jammed in. so here is a photo of me mid way through cutting/melting the original belt to rescue my spanner.

The following two photos are of what it looks like in the car.

Sitting in the car with the new belts in, i have a much greater sense of safety, as it is a new mechanism and all the springs are still "tight" you can fell it holding you in, but not so tight that it is uncomfortable, so it maybe wise for you guys out there to replace your 25+ old belts for some new ones (in case something unfortunate happens)

just remember our cars are replaceable, our forum members are not!

I guess I got lucky - my belts still work. They were jammed up when I first bought the car, but with a little 'persuasion' and I got them retracting and working again.
I do hate the side button release though and it's in an awkward place - too far back.
But being that they're 33 years old, they still might need to be replaced.
