FHC fuel breather pipe routing

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font size="2"><font color="blue">I have had the tank out of my 1976 FHC to underseal the car but now that it's all back together I have a long pipe left over but I don't know where it goes (I assume it to be a breather pipe). It starts from just by where the filler tube goes into the main tank. I haven't a clue where I disconnected it from, so I can't put it back, but there is a clip towards the free end of the pipe which looks like it might clip on a panel edge or something. Also, the free end of it looks like it has never had a clip or connector fitted to it so could it be an overspill pipe? It's about 12" - 16" long.

I have looked at DHCs and the breather pipe on those seem to feed into a tube on the filler neck, but my filler neck doesn't appear to have one of those.

Can anybody shed any light on where this filler pipe should be routed, and where the end is clipped to? I'd be really grateful because this is one of those little jobs I want to sort out.

On U.S. federal cars, there is a square-ish plastic box that has two hoses connected to it. The long one feeds to the charcoal cannister in the engine bay. The shorter hose connects to the gas tank. This plastic box can be described as a fuel/vapor separator container. It is a good thing to have as it prevents unwanted fuel odors in the cabin and in your closed garage where it can combust from a spark or open flame. Then we would have one less TR7 in the world.

Mine feeds into the filler neck. The filler neck has a small pipe fitment off to one side and it pops on there with a jubilee clip. I used 8mm fuel hose for mine.

As far as i remember, the breather pipe is left clipped to the edge of the tank by the filler neck as the early filler neck doesn't have a pipe coming off it.The other end is on a small pipe that comes off the tank near the filler tube on tank.The breather pipe does double back on it's self.
