It's not a wedge, but it is still a Triumph

Postby RJS » 08 Apr 2009 02:16

I had never even heard of a Triumph Italia before, but I really like the looks of this.

I assume it is worth a LOT, but it's still fun to dream. Anyhone know what something this rare is worth?

I got to see one up close last summer at the VTR's NATC in Ypsilanti, Michigan; what a beautiful car.

Certainly one of the prettiest TR's ever, shame it used the TR3A chassis and not the TR4 irs.
But still wouldn't mind owning one [:)]

There's only about 300 of them. They took years to sell due to them being too expensive but it is now possible to order a new one from Revington TR who will build it off the original plans in aluminium. The place that does the shells in just up the road from me in Liskeard and very talented he is too having learnt his trade at Aston Martin.

Not officially a Standard product they were sold with the understanding that body parts were not available (in the event of a crash.) Not any different than any other low volume car I guess. Definitely one nice looking Triumph. A club member locally here in Victoria donated his Italia to a car museum in UK. He said when he had it outside the museum (can't remember which) there were more people in the parking lot looking at it than were inside.

We've got three Italia in Sweden.
One is owned by a friend who also have a Dové GTR4 and a TR3. I'm trying to persuade him to buy himself a TR8 as well
- so he's got one of each of the rare ones... [:D]

329 were officially made & it is said that only 40 remain. If that is true you'd think a rough runner would still be worth 30k.
