Looking for Pictures of DHC - Behind Seats

Postby allzway » 09 Feb 2009 14:52

I recently purchased a 1980 DHC car in decent shape body wise with a 231 Buick V6 already installed. I am in the process of painting the car.. not a complete restoration, but doing enough to make it look good for driving.

This is my third TR7, but my first DHC car.

Unfortunately, this car had most of the interior stripped and missing.

I am needing to see pictures of what the area behind the seats looks like.

Most of the pictures of these cars always are shown with the top down and the boot covering the area, so I really don't know what am missing in this area.

Any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

There is carpet and a rear panel made of particle board with a vinyl covering. The panel has three snaps across the top about 3" below the edge for the hood cover to snap to. The whole unit is held in place with four sheet metal screws.

Well sorry no pics but there is a one piece trim panel that covers the upright body panel behind the seat - different to the FHC panel.

On the flat shelf behind the seats there would have been a flat fibreboard shelf, trimmed with carpet material. The seat belts mounted through this & held it in place. Surrounding this were 3 vertically mounted fibreboard pieces, again trimmed to match with carpet material, held in with trim screws to the bodywork, covering the hood fixings.

I know Robsport over here can supply the vertical trim panel boards & carpet pieces but the flat shelf is only available secondhand AFAIK.

Finally, the hood frame mountings on each side had plastic covers.

Luckily... I do have that panel, but I just don't have the things on the deck or the carpet that surrounds the back.

I guess a carpet kit does not include the carpet pieces needed for behind the seat on the deck area?

The hood stowage area/parcel shelf carpet pieces do indeed come with
a correct DHC carpet kit. There is also a board kit that lines this
shelf carpet,in Rimmers catalogue its code is RB7330.

See ya. Paul

Can't save them all but I am trying!!!

allzway,

If you had clicked on the link I gave you, you would see that those rear pieces are Item #10 on that page.

JClay.. Thanks I did see that and it is very helpful, but also was curious about the panels beside the seats. In the FHC, there are panels in place, but it looks that in DHC, it is just carpeted.

I also am thinking of fabbing my own panel for the deck area instead of using the factory cardboard pieces. I think I can use sheet metal and cover it with the appropriate vinyl, but just wasn't real sure what the pieces looked like.

Yoke... Mine also in about that same state. All the interior is out, lights out, bumpers off, top is off and is sanded almost to the metal everywhere now. Still many months away from paint though.
