IS THERE A BETTER LOOKING IDEA THAN JUST A NUT?

Hi all i thought today, when i was putting this lovely bit of trim over my gear stick gaiter, and thought the nut that that goes on then the gear knob i thought spoiled the look a bit, and even when it is on, when the gear knob is tightned fully the numbers for the gears arnt centre, daft thing i know but just wanted to see what others have done.

pictured below is the trim piece i bought andbelow it looks like a small rubber tubing where on mine is a nut and spoils the look of what i bought today i reckon

I dont have a pic, mainly because I dont have that wedge anymore, but.....I completely changed out the shifter-knob on my last TR8. I bought one of those 'Pistol-Grip' style shifter knobs. They attach easily w/o any mods to the shifter shaft. There was a finisher that I put on first, then an adapter, then the new knob went over top the adapter. Allen screws secured the knob to the adapter/shaft. Then the finisher snapped over the allen screw to hide them.

I liked the feel of the pistol-grip type. Im gonna install the same type on my latest 7, so when I do Ill take some pic's.

I have a shortened shift stick with an aftermarket knob on it. When you screw the knob on the leather gaitor top fits underneath the bottom lip so that none of the stick is visible.

Looks neat and tidy.

The same as this gear knob in my DHC ...

Or get yourself a Â± 14mm alloy tube which you place over the gear stick and use the gear knob from a Mini ...

Wayne S,

What did you do for a shortened stick? To reach the pedals with my short legs, I sit fairly far forward, and the shift into 2nd and 4th is a bit awkward. A shorter or bent stick would seem to help.
