Both I think John.
The reason why you keep a TR3A original is to capture by-gone times and drive as slice of history. Perhaps its because the 7/8 was so ahead of its time that owners tend to go the other way and just add minor facelifts to keep it modern and fresh looking.
The general car admiring public are always surprised to learn how old my Grinnall is and certainly of you park it next to say an Allegro or Marina of the time then its looks impossible that they were from the same era!
I have to confess that the standard 7 either in FHC or DHC form never really excited me, I looked at buying one purely becuase it was going to be my first car to get me classic experience before getting what I really wanted - a TR6, when I could afford to buy and insure one. It was also a cheapish car to buy and run for a Uni student as I was at the time.
Blastphemy I know.
But then I stumbled across the Grinnalls, first my 2 litre (tuned to 135BHP) and then the V8 (again bored and tuned to 250 BHP) and to be honest now I cant see me ever bothering with a 6, I fear it could be something of a dissapointment now....
