Common parts list (again)

Postby Jez » 17 Jan 2009 23:53

Now that I've finished my mature age apprenticeship (I'm 36)as an electrician/linesman, I can finally sink my teeth (and some $$) into the V8 conv. on my TR.
My question is: is there or was there ever a compatible/common parts list compiled on the forum? I know there has been talk of it.
Also can the bellhousing from an old rover P5/6? be used for the LT77 gerabox be used? Here in Oz TRS are selling SD1 bellhousings for $795. A complete pis*take IMO. Dellow auto don't do bellhousings for LT77 to rover, but do T5, toyota etc to rover V8
regards
Jez

Apart from the fact that very few manual P5s or P6s came here to Oz they didn't have a LT77 in 'em anyway. So not much hope there.
The Leyland P76 V8 bellhousing will bolt straight to the Rover block,
these didn't run a LT77 either, they ran a Borg-Warner 3 speed or a Borg-Warner single rail 4 speed in the manual versions and a Borg-Warner 35 in the autos.
If your a good enough metalworker you might be able to cut 'n' shut a P76 bellhousing to the existing Triumph bellhousing. but you would need to know what your doing and when you factor time in to the equitation it would probably be more costly than $795!

I sold the '61 International AA120 to a mate.. he hasn't paid for it yet!
Sold the Jag XJ12 too

Depending on the state of your LT77, I'd be tempted to go straight for the Supra box...
