Yah, I saw that. It's in jclay's backyard. It has no title so I don't know what Texas rules are reguarding registering a no title salvage vehicle. Looks like it's been under water so if it was driven into the water with engine running it could have sucked up water and bent the rods etc. Or it could be a good ground up restoration (no visible rust.)

I would be having a look if I was near by but sadly England is a large ocean away.

It looks like carbs have been replaced etc.

I spotted that the other day. In PA it could be retitled as a reconstructed vehicle. But...I have a friend who has done flood cars and he says never again. Would be good for a TR7/V8 project if you were so inclined. Like I've said before though, the TR8s don't really bring enough over here to make it worth the effort. My guess is it will be parted out eventually.

I went and looked at the car yesterday. The inside is full of dirt, but not sand (so hopefully, not salt water), as it was totally underwater. I do have a TR7/V8 project I am going to start on. Getting this car would save me a lot of money, if I can get it at a reasonable price. There is a guy from Canada who is interested.

Looking at the car, it was obvious that the PO really didn't take good care of the car. Prestone anti-freeze bottle used as an overflow tank, with a hole punched in the side and a rubber hose fed through the hole.

I will see what happens. Wish me luck on bidding!!

PS, the insurance company wrote the car off as a parts car only, there is no title and you can't get one from the state. If I got the parts off the car to use for a conversion, I would have to cut the car into pieces just to gt rid of it.

Hope you can get it. If the body tub is sound, it may be of use to someone with a rusted TR7/8. The vin could be switched around pretty easily.

IF, and that's a very big if, I get it, I would not be using the body. There is a big dent right behind the driver's door and a lot of rust. Like I said, I don't think the PO took very good care of the car.

I would not be using the factory alloy wheels, so if someone wanted those, I would make them a good price, IF I am lucky (?) enough to get the car.

If you get it & part it out, I bet you will be surprised how much you could get back on the uneeded pieces. Something to consider when deciding how much to pay. Good luck again.

I am just now getting it ready to paint, not a restore right now, but it is missing a couple of things.

Haven't told the wife yet, but I figure I just saved myself about $3000 in conversion parts. I've got a good TR7 body to put everything into, another engine and trans from a Rover 3500, a complete leather interior, Mark I ground effects kit and 14" Panasport wheels.

Add all of the original TR8 parts and I can make a very good car. It's got the PS, brakes, K member, rear end, trans & engine, Instrument cluster, wiring and the radiator/supports. I can put in all new poly bushings and new shocks, have the Tank rebuilt and then add a new intake and 4 barrel carb.

So, I paid $400 for the TR7, $1,026 for the TR8 and the rest of the parts I have had laying around(Total so far $1426!). I am bartering for the Rover engine/trans by getting a friends TR8 running, and I am going to paint the car myself.

I will have to start a blog just for this one.

LOL! Honey, I've spent $1000 so we can save $3000. Sounds just like my wife when she shows me the new dress that has saved us $200. Not to mention the house painting that cost $2000 so we don't have to spend $5000 doing it next year - still don't understand that one!

At least this was a worthwhile purchase. I salute you for your commitment to the cars we love & I look forward to the progress.
