NOW ANOTHER BUMPER PROBLEM!!

Postby tr7inc » 08 Nov 2008 09:14

Hi guys what with going to the rear bumper cover off the bumper bar itself, i found that one of the bolts wouldnt come out on close inspection i see why at some point it looks like it has been cross threaded and the metal thread plate inside is turning with the screw, question how on earth does one get the screw out, and even if the screw comes out how on earth can you get another fixing inside the bumper bar??

Sometimes the smallest of things on these cars can be the most irritating

any help always appreaciated

As I currently have my bumper completely disassembled on my garage floor I should be able to help but I can't identify which of the bolts is in your picture. Can you take a pic from a bit further back?

Steve

On mine the 2 bolts are attached to a small plate that can be removed once the bumper cover is off. The picture shows 1 in place & the other removed.

Your picture looks quite different though so I'm a bit confused. If it was like mine I'd cut through the bolt, remove the cover & replace the plate with the bolt on it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks peter for the pic, yeah those ones i have got on , it was the 2 bolts that fit at the bottom of the bumper, say for instance your getting down to look underneath youre bumper, there are 2 bolt screws that the ones i ment sorry if me explaining it was wrong, should have taken more pics, i think i may have a cheating way round it now though, because even if i do get the bolt screw out, the plate that is inside the bumper bar would just fall away inside ( with no way of retreiving or replacin it) so im just gonna make the hole slightly bigger in the cover itself then when i put it back onto the bumper bar it will give the illusuion that its attached, cant think of another way round it, im certainly not repalcing the whole bumper bar because of one screw, so we'll see.
