Anyone in Sydney Au?

If there is anyone on the forum located in Sydney Australia I would appreciate a discussion.

My motivation has been wavering recently. I hope I can meet someone undertaking a similar project who would be prepared to share a bit of labour to help each other progress our projects.

I'm in NSW, Byng, near Orange. I get to Sydney a bit. I'm doing the V8 conv. albeit very slowly.
What are your issues besides parts being overpriced here?

Hi Jez,

The biggest issues seem related to how long it takes to do things to the desired standard yourself and how much it costs to get someone to do work for you, plus, how to recover if their work is not to spec.

Parts are expensive, sometimes ridiculously so.

Hey, next time you are coming to Sydney let me know. It will give me a reason to get started again.

My workshop is at Windsor. It is just a double garage with my two V8 projects in it, plus the remants of 3 other wedges.

Hi Omichaelshar sorry cant help you I am here in Adelaide bit of a trip to Sydney, I know what you mean about motivation I have started a conversion bought an SD1 for parts so had to pull engine out of that am in the midlle of rebuilding that at the moment.The interior of my car is not to bad will do just now but have a couple of bits of body work needs done but nothing too bad just at the seams front and rear looking at seam welding them to try avoid it happing again.

Who are you getting your parts from? I am about 2mins from TRS but find it cheaper to pick stuff up from overseas most of the time.There is 3 of us doing TR7 V8 over here that I know of we are all within 10 min of each other. We have met up once and keep in contact with e mail.Well hope you find someone near to you to get you going again.

Phil, it is not that expensive or difficult to make if you have access to a welder and cutoff saw.

omichaeslar I've been three years myself converting to a V8 and I have to say for the first time in a long time I'm actually getting excited because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It may be another year but I can see it. Like everyone else on this forum things come up, kids, wife, family, work, mother nature, money and time of course. Anytime you want to chat about issues don't be afraid to post on here, that's what we are here for. One of the things that drives me is that all my buddies think it'll never be done [:D] I plan to prove them wrong.

The only thing I can say is that my conversion is a trial run, I want to run the car complete for a full summer work out all the bugs, discover what I like and what I don't like and then do a complete ground up restoration.

Your doing the right thing nothing wrong with asking for a little help, wouldn't it be nice if everyone on the site lived in the same city how fast would all of our projects get done then eh? Also what a blast that would be[:D]

Can't save them all but I am trying!!!

Owen, I know Windsor, did a bit of time at Hawkesbury Ag. I'm just about to complete an apprenticeship, so the money has been scarce. Once the paycheque increases I can put some love and time and money into it. Our work mechanic has a large shed with hoist and all the goodies. he's keen to help me along.
Will definately get in touch when I'm doing a Sydney trip. I always do Bells line of road. TR7 is made for it! Reagards
