Modern Radio to fit TR7 from Halfords

Just fitted a £38 SENDAi CD FM radio from Halfords in my TR7. I am posting this in case anyone else is looking for a modern radio that can be installed without standing proud of the consol.

Can you tell me what model number it is, and give us the manufacturer's website? I checked on the Halford website and it's not listed there, but I'm REALLY interested in seeing if I can find one on this side of the pond (or from a vendor that will ship to here).

The unit is the Sendai CD688 CD Player reduced from £69 to £39. It still needs the width of the opening in the console to be slightly enlarged to accommodate a ISO standard radio, but all the consoles I looked at have already been enlarged. The best part is that it is shallow enough to fit in front of the heater on my '81 TR7 without standing proud. Its designed for to work with four speakers but am using it to feed the standard two door mounted speakers only.

That is really interesting. I've been running around radioless for years since my ageing Sharp unit failed and this would do nicely. (V8 tunes prove a good substitute)

How is it secured to the console? I ask since my DHC is often parked with the hood down outside my parents house or on my driveway.

Control panel is removable for security, otherwise it has no particular security features apart from the standard concealed clips to hold it in place.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately they don't ship internationally, just with the UK. I noticed that in your installation, you don't have A/C, so I'm not sure it would properly fit on a car that does have it. I'll have to keep looking...

Well I'm just going to put this out there. If there is enough interest from a group of people here in North America, and the money is prepaid would one of the Brits be willing to make a group purchase and ship it overseas?

At the same time if there is a radio unit in the UK that fits then for sure there must be one over here as well.

Can't save them all but I am trying!!!

I inquired about a SENDIA CD FM Stereo on ebay, the reply I received for the dimensions are as follows: 18cm across 17cm front to back and 5 cm thick.
I like the idea of a bulk purshase, as long as there was an mp3 jack.
My radio sits at an awkward angle, and would like something that fits better.If anyone finds one in the states that will fit, I'd sure like to know about it.
