Replacing fan clutch sleeve

Any suggestions ----

I have removed my fan pulley assembly with fan attached from my 1980 TR7 in order to replace the fan clutch sleeve. Any suggestions on how to separate the fan clutch from the fan pulley assembly. once I have separated the two will the clutch sleeve come out by hand.

Would appreciate hearing any experiences you might have with this project. Thanks

Greetings. A very simple job actually. If you have access to a hydraulic press you simply press out the pulley assembly from the clutch bearing. You will find the old sleeve wrapped around the pulley shaft. Re-assembly is just the opposite. Attach your new sleeve around the pulley shaft and press the clutch back on the pulley assembly. Do this with your fan removed, it is much easier to hold components in place etc. If you do not have access to a hydraulic press, take the whole assembly to a machine shop or a good garage and they can do it easily.

Another alternative - although I have a press at the shop I didn't need it. I removed the fan from the clutch, bolted a crankshaft damper puller to it, using the same holes the fan uses. Then used the center bolt in the puller to push the hub out. It came apart pretty easily this way.

Or even a simpler route... I whacked it off with a rubber mallet. WOW! That was fast!
