Grinnall / Spax Experts Help Needed !!

Postby Wayne S » 28 May 2008 10:18

Hi All,

Your starter for 10 points, feel free to confer [8D]

Need to replace the adustable shockers on the Grinnall. I have Rover SD1 shockers for the front turrets as the car has Rover running gear all round, 5 stud hubs etc. The rears are proving a little more tricky as they have a coil over arrangement fabricated in the rear arch.

I need to find out what these Spax are so I can replace, has anyone got the same arrangement?

Does anyone know where the reference numbers are to be found on Spax?

They are gas on car adjustable jobs, thats all I know [:(]

Any ideas ?

Wayne,

Are those tail lights from a different vehicle?

They are indeed Rover SD1.

Grinnall used them on the majority of his cars. Both my V8 and the 2 Litre pictured have them. Leads to much confusion over what the car is, most people mistake it for a TVR 350i.

How difficult are the SD1 lights to fit - new rear panel, or can the original be modified to take these light units?

My V8:

The purple 2 litre one has a bespoke rear panel, but the V8 below has just modified the original TR7 panel and in fact if you look closely at the detial the brows are still the length for the original lights.
