Summer is coming (it is in the UK)

Postby wayne walsh » 02 May 2008 21:28

Put the TR away 7 months ago.

Put some road tax on it yesterday and took it out today. I just expected to have some problems. Nope not one; couple of miles taking it easy, listening for bits falling off. Then hit the loud pedal (and hit it hard) and life just continues. I love it !!

Hi Wayne, glad the beast is running well. I remember the evening you took me out in it, I can honestly say I have never known such raw power. A beautiful car with absolutely awesome acceleration.

Hi Wayne

Not been able to finish it completely, I was hospitalized recently and home some surgery to the old ticker, on the mend now though.

Last time I did some work on it I found the dizzy is buggered. I have a replacement and two friends are coming up on Sunday to assist in fitting that and sorting out the twin dellortos. It is basically ready for the mot and that should happen very shortly.

We are at the Detling show ground on May 11th for the Arriva funday if fancy it? Got to be there for 09:00 but have 10 cars scheduled to arrive.

Also, got a good deal for Sunday June 29th at Brands Hatch Autoglym Historic and Classic racing. £14.00 for a 2 seater and £25.00 for a four, just let me know.(Brands wanted £16.00 per person)

Kind regards

Gary

Wane, with all that power, do you crack the paint on the seams
between the front mudguards & the head light panel, & between the
rear guards& the panel behind the hood. Our 4.6L does, in a short
time, after fixing.

If its not a problem, have you done something to prevent it? If so,
what?

The car is about to be repainted, & we are thinking of gas brazing
the seams. Brase, because we could fhen more easily grind it, to
look stock. I do not want to make the seams flush with the panels.

Someone suggested a soft filler, but I have my doubts that 2 pack
paint would flex with that.

Any help/advice appreciated.

Lead filler, or brazing, is the way to do it if you don't want to weld them up.

Hasbeen.

No problems with the front end.

Due to a bit of a cock up !! One of the rear quarters has been welded up and the seam line put back with a grinder. This has given no problems at all. The other side is fitted normally and does have a hair line crack in the paint (but you have to look hard for it)

Best regards
Wayne

Gary

Has that lad of yours recovered ?

He was grinning, but when we hit 130 then went up another cog, he grinned a lot !!

We topped 140 on the M2 bridge, we would have made 150 b/4 the exit but there was too much traffic about.

Best regards
Wayne

He is still talking about it!! I don't think we could wipe that smile off for a week. Thanks so much for giving him the ride of his life.

He is currently on MSN (or whatever it's called) telling all his mates about it. I thinks there will be an awful lot of very jealous people out there now.

See you soon Wayne
