You see, the other Triumph are owned by really fanatic people who are consumed by their TR2 - 6s and not really opened to looking a a better car.

Ok, duck and cover time!

Very true but I do think they are becoming a little more popular as supplys of good rebuildable TR2-6s dries up. Also the prices on the rest of the lineage is getting out of reach for some. Not just the other TR owners though. Does me no good to talk about my TR8 over on the MG forum either.[:D]

There are lots of owners of the older TR’s now riding round in TR7’s and 8’s and from what many of them tell me it’s because they are comfortable compared to the bone shakers they were riding round in. Certainly a lot less TR7 directed flack from owners of older TR’s these days could it be they have discovered what the rest us have know for years? Certainly kids seem to prefer the TR7 over it’s older cousins so who knows what the future holds but it does now seem to be a lot rosier than it has in the past.

Hi Richard,
Just looked at your site, congratulations changed a lot since i last was a member has the logging on got any easyier [?] Could never get it to work, (i am but a simple car mechanic [;)] ) Do members of the TR Register still get a discount [?] was that not the case at some point [?] Sorry if i got that wrong i know how you northen folk view such suggestions [;)] (joking honest!!)
As far as this forum is concerned would be more than happy to contribute to any running costs. I too consider the people on here as friends [8D] and IMHO we all contribute to the world of TR7 And TR8 in some way. Maybe not as much some, a big thank you to those who do and i take my hat of to you, but the odd bit of advice, ideas or encouragement all helps, IMHO [;)]
Cheers John

John,
In the early days I believed everyone would want to have chat rooms forums etc etc BUT over time I discovered many of the members we were getting wanted in effect a huge TR7 TR8 reference library they could browse at will more than they wanted interaction. So because of that I closed the forum chats rooms etc and re-developed the club into the huge online searchable TR7 TR8 reference library folk wanted which is what it is today, hence the new look from the last time you saw it. The new membership logon system allows you to get your password emailed to you and is considerably simpler and more secure than the first one. As a result of that move to content management style I now find folk tend to join when they need some technical information, part numbers, want to watch a TR7 video etc then let it lapse until they need it again. I was however struck with the thought that surely these folk would want to attend local meetings and therefore affiliated to the TR Register and so members could attend their local and annual meetings without having to be a member of the TR Register. Surprisingly that hasn’t really been taken up much at all so perhaps folk really do just want a huge TR7 TR8 reference library and nothing else, certainly I’m coming to that point of view as every time I try something towards interaction it doesn’t seem to work very well. The NEW content management style does allow people to comment and interact on anything they find BUT it isn’t used very much. What does get used a great deal is the inbuilt search system where for example you type FAB in and a picture of a yellow TR7 comes up to tell you it’s the paint code for Inca yellow or you type brakes and it displays articles, pictures, parts information, drawings, etc to do with brakes. The early club site had loads of information but because there was so much information it was often difficult to find what you needed when you needed it, the NEW one however takes a second or two to find exactly what you were looking for. As part of that affiliation TR Register members get a discount to £7. You need to ring the office and ask for a membership discount number to get the discount. Many folk seem to think the club became joined at the hip with the TR Register, that has never happened as all that was ever agreed was to try and help one another out and to promote the TR7 TR8. Ultimately we all need to work at promoting the TR7 TR8 and as such you will no doubt see me doing things for and with the Triumph Wedge Owners Association as well as other clubs who look after the TR7 TR8. In my mind at least we will all one day in the not too distant become one big WORLD club, when that happens past club disagreements will be forgotten and all TR7 TR8 information will be available to all. Until that day happens we will continue to collect and store anything we can find on the TR7 TR8 and so that future owners can also benefit. Turned into a bit of a rant but I hope you can see this is positive for everyone.
