Tr7 Spit

Hi Everyone.

i am a nebie to seven ownership, although not new to the Tr Scene having owning a six for the last fifteen years.

I have ben given/ rescued a Tr7 with sprint engine. Engine is fine, but body work is rusted in the usual places.

Am planning to strip car and then look at the bodywork issues. I have looked at a few good sites which show restoration to these areas.

Most of this work is done with the aid of a spit.

Does anyone have any further details on the design, dimensions of a typical spit, no nos etc.

Hi Guy,

I can agree, with a spit you'll make a better job of the repairs and it'll be so much easier.

I made mine from lengths of 2inch angle iron, with the centre swivel point (a 1 inch bolt) at 3 feet above the ground, meaning you can tilt it inside the garage. The angle iron is welded to a base, which is an oblong frame 4 feet by 2 feet.





Not that easy to see the spit, but it is easier to make than you think!!

My spit is pretty straight forward to make if you can weld.


I did post dimensions previously but am happy to dig out the old notebook or re measure is necessary.
