When you want to do something (or not!), one excuse is just as good as another!

I had an original unipart tonneau fitted to the TR7 dhc I owned back in 1981. I actually thought it was pretty cool. Great in summer, could leave the hood down parked outside on clear nights ready for the next morning. Items left on the passenger seat/footwell were pretty much out of site and it was great in cold weather as the warm air from the heater passenger side welled up the slowly escapes over and around the driver.

My current daily driver convertible has a metal folding roof, electrically heated seats, a great heater and one of those anti-buffeting things behind the seats...it is pretty much just as warm with the hood up or down.

The TR with full tonneau fitted would come a close second I reckon (with the heater cranked up)!

Whilst there may be more studs to do up with the tonneau, you can be away faster as you don't have to fold the hood carefully and put it under the bag. I tend to use the hood for the winter and when it is raining (really heavily) as the tonneau and 45pmh keeps the car dry!

The tonneau doubles up as the hood storage bag and keeps the car interior cool on a really hot day (so does the a/c of course!).

As everyone says - each to their own - but I would scrap the hood before the tonneau not the other way round!

Might see some of you on the New FOrest run in 3 weeks time.[:)]

I've just thought of a possible way to prevent having to drill holes in the top of the doors: strong magents sewn into the edge of the tonneau. How well would this work, do you think?
