I have to agree with Hasbeen.I have been in a few fields
in my time with Mini's,when i was a teenager-both forwards
and back-once you lost it there is no way back!
Rear drive gives you options as you can almost 'steer'
from rear and front with practice-i used to thrash around
empty wet car parks in the middle of the night learning
this 'black' art before someone called the 'Fuzz' and
ruined my fun! Of course i'm grown up now,so i won't
advize this learning curve to the uninitiated.
Oh, congrats to Hasbeen on your 1000th post-Top geezer!!

See ya. Paul

Hi,
Picked up freshly painted O/S door and boot lid from Santa Robsport! One of my daughters brought me a copy of a book by Top Gear, 'My Dad Had One Of Those' a collection of cars our dads owned during the 60s and 70s under chapters such as,Fast Dad,Practical Dad, Frugal Dad ect.A real trip down memory lane,no TR's but has Stag and Sprint in it.

I got a book, "Ultimate Classic Car" subtitled "The Worlds Greatest
Automobiles".

I was absolutely amazed to find the TR7 was not included in there.

Hasbeen, [ducking for cover]

We gave our 9 yr old son, who is quite the little car buff, a book called The World's Worst Cars, and lo and behold, the TR7 IS in there! I'll post the write-up when I get access to a scanner. Should make for some lively discussion.

Yep, got me a new set of black seat covers and bladders from VicBrit! (Santa was good to me this year!)

I'm thinking of having the TRIUMPH wreath logo embroidered on them in thread that will match the body colour.

I was going to have TR7 put on, but then I thought, "What if I put a V-8 in it"???

Have a happy New Year everyone! Cheers!

Bit late, (Thanks Postie...) but my missus bought me the Bullit DVD and the "Improving TR7 / TR8" book. I knew leaving a copy of the TR Drivers mag laying around was a good idea [;)] Both are really good. DVD is a very good watch (and a good way to get the living room to yourself for a couple of hours...) and the book looks to have a lot of good ideas and tips, even for a seasoned TR tinkerer.

I got the Improving book and a little pewter model of a DHC. I was going to get the latest book, but it wasn't in stock at Amazon, so I got a book on London Underground suburbs instead. Then I got a watch with some Amazon vouchers I got.

I got the "How to Resore your TR7/8" Book, but am a bit disappointed with it as it is more of a how-to mechanical/body repair book. Some good info for sure, but I was more after detailed photos/info on original early cars.
Also got a stereo for the 7 which was desperately needed.[:)]

For photos info on early cars your best bet is probably "Original TR7 & TR8" by Bill Piggott. It shows pictures of differences on TR7's and TR8. Whether it shows the detail you have in mind only you can decide if you get a chance to see it. I picked mine up for $20 in a book store in Richmond a few years ago before I had a TR7. There used to be an automobilia store in Vancouver but the website isn't comimg up. If it's temporaily down I'll email you the link.

(wasn't necessarily for the TR7,but...) I got a $25 gift card to an auto parts shop over here. I do need to get another amplifier for one of the other cars, but for now,no big rush to spend it. Besides,I can't really think of anything I particularly need on the 7 at the moment, thank goodness![:D]

Thanks Spyder!
You are probably thinking of Wilkinson's Automobilia. They are a great resource, if a bit pricey. I got my shop manual from them but will probably look for that book online.
I plan on going by there next weekend regardless as I will be passing their shop heading for Octagon Motor Group to pick up my new windscreen and starter motor. Woo-Hoo! They are sort of my Christmas present to myself.[:D]

Cheers,
Richard

Update!
I did a search for the Piggott book. I found it for $90.00+ on Abebooks, for $50.00+ on Amazon, and then found it for 36.95 at the Little British Car Co. And, it was on salefor $31.95! Woo-hoo!
Of course I went and ordered 50 bucks more stuff that I sorta wanted/needed while I was at it.[:I]
