Mystery item

Postby Rich K » 04 Jun 2016 21:25

Hi, my mate has just purchased a low mileage, one lady owner TR7. Aside from the fact that he is a lucky b*****d for finding such an unmolested car in great condition, this mystery item was found in the boot. It is in two pieces that fit together to form a kind of frame and has a factory looking hardura type storage bag. I have never seen anything like this before. Does anyone out there recognise or know what it is?
Thanks, Rich.

Is it the exact width of the drophead frame?

If so, could well be a draught excluder, just missing the clear plastic to cut wind...

It is a tonneau bar for an MGB. Used under the tonneau cover when it is tucked behind the front seats

Hi, thanks for explanation. I thought that it was probably something to do with a soft top but it looked too narrow for the 7. I guess the previous owner of the car also had an MGB at some time. Something to sell online then!
