Well, i took the bull by the horns and removed the motor and all the drive linkages etc.
The grease in both the motor and the gearwheels and tubes was pretty hard and the drivers side gearwheel was not free spinning.
I have cleaned the drive cable and got the gear wheels spinning beautifully now and ready for new grease. I have left the plastic cog wheel in place as i don't want to disturb the position, so cleaning the old grease as best i can.
Question. - should i be able to spin the motor, not that i really want to for fear of losing the setting? I don't want to strip the motor anymore at this stage as its mot late tomorrow afternoon !!!!!
The other question, and this is my stupidity for mot taking notes!!!!!, when i put the wheel boxes back onto the assembly is the tube at the front or back as you look from the front of the car???? Hope my question makes sense !!!!!
Also the nuts that hold the wheel boxes together and clamp the tubes did not seem very tight? In fact only finger tight.
Last point the contacts on the block connector weren't as bad as i imagined but one dod have dome corrosion. - so cleaned with contact spray and will use dielectric grease on reassembly.
I did have a 'parking ' problem but think this will have to be for another day
Thanks for all the help so far
