RECONDITIONED GEARBOX SUPPLIER

Postby moodyblue » 15 Sep 2015 12:50

Anyone know who can supply a reconditioned LT77 gearbox with details of the work carried out during the process. The usual suppliers such as Rimmers do advertise them but there is no info regarding parts replaced, ratios etc. I tried Ashcroft Transmissions but they supply 4x4 boxes and don't go as far back as suffix C. While I'm here, has anybody found a good alternative for the rock hard gearbox mountings yet?
Thanks

Understand there is a very similar/same design mount from Volvo that can be substituted. Try search the forums here, there is a write up/some discussion regards this mount and possibly a picture. Good luck DM

Hi,

I'm hoping to fit the Volvo gearbox mount I sourced in the next couple of months.

I'm separated from my wedge at the moment. My old garage has been demolished and is being replaced. The new mount is at the back of a shed full of gear. IIRC it's roughly the same profile and the rubber had a little bit of give in it unlike the rock hard example on the car.

As soon as I can repatriate the wedge I've got the gearbox mount and steering column bush to replace.
