light switch again................

Postby gaz » 02 Mar 2010 20:21

I Know I know,.... the subject of light switches has been covered millions of times but,

I knock it down one side lights come on
knock it down two head lamps pop up and come on
push indicator stalk forward and main beam comes on... all is well
now when the lights are off and I go to flash the lights on the indicater stalk....... nothing happens until I flick the light switch down to side lights and they will pop up and flash and go down.
I also find that if i knock up the light switch up to the top from when the lights are on they will not go down but they will go down if knock it up to side lights and wait for a couple of seconds

I take it this would indcate problem is with the switch and either replacement or a good clean should sort it

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!

Sounds like a good place to start at least. Also have a look at the terminal block that connects to the light. Clean it up and, if it shows any sign of melting, consider relaying the headlights.

Check the plastic that holds the switch in place on the switch bar. Mine was cracked and gave me fits until I found that the switch body was moving.

Unless it's the contacts on the indicator stalk of course. These can be adjusted easily with a screwdriver without taking anything apart. I've had to adjust them on mine a couple of times because the pods didn't pop up at all.
