And what do TR6 instrument bulbs have to do with TR7/8 instrumentation lighting?
I simply cannot see the connection...

And for exchanging the TR7/8 instrument lighting:
Remove the instrument pod as according to the ROM.
Then it's easy to undo the twist-lock bulb holders and change the bulbs.

Don't know if TR6 uses same bulbs as TR7 or not. It's been a while since I had the center consul off. There's only a limited number of ways bulbs mount.

The (some) instrument bulb types with wire contacts just pull/push into holders.

Bayonet types are either put in either way or some are keyed with one notch higher than the other. Just push them in a little and twist then pull out. Some can be a little tough if dry corrosion is present. Spray with a little penetrating oil in the holder will help. Hold the bulb with a rag to give a better grip and some protection if the bulb breaks or separates from the base.
