Dave, it is all very well getting the parts cheaply - I do that all the time. It is another thing to get that part installed & find it as bad as the bit it is replacing - I do that all the time too. With a gearbox I seem to get burnt 4 times out of 5 & it is a job you can get sick of very quickly. Hopefully the refurbed box has a gauruntee.

Hi, I stripped two cars for interior trim. One had the engine and box removed and the other was totaly smashed up so nothing useable[:(].I am in a dilema here as to what to do about this gearbox. As said for the price of a refurb box £402 + £100 exchange refunded then I could buy a whole car!!!! Mind you an unknown box for £95 may well break again[:0]. I have gone so far now that my car is a keeper so may as well just get the refurb.only problem is Who is telling the kids santa won't be coming this year[8)].I drove the car today and it seems to be working fine again? these things don't just mend themselfs so all very odd[?].I have orderd a clutch kit as well may as well do it if the damn box is coming out. Thanks for the support guys I am stepping back from the thoughts of torching the beast..... slowley..[}:)] Oh one more thing are there any seals or gaskets I will need for changing this gearbox?

Hi Steph,
Glad you are calming down, slowly, [;)] No gaskets ect required but on the front of the remote housing where it bolts to gearbox there some bushes, terrible for wearing out so get some poly bush replacements, i am sure someone on here with have picture of required parts. Also check condition of large rubber block on gearbox cross member these collaspe and die [xx(] Worth filling box with one of the symthetic oils listed on various threads on here whilst box out, will give smoother action and last longer [;)]
Cheers John

It's like christmas when I get new car parts[:p]
