Dave are you talking about the kit that converts the late Waxstat type jet to the earlier non Waxstat type?

Assuming you are not making other changes like different needles & filters, or exhaust manifold, then it's not going to make any appreciable difference to performance but I have heard that the idle stability may be improved. Getting the carbs correctly tuned, whether Waxstat or non Waxstat type, is essential & will give you the best running.

I think you have to remove the carbs from the manifold to install. Good opportunity to clean & check everything else.

As Tony said if it's a waxstat conversion you shouldn't see much of a difference.

Saying that, that's assuming your waxstat's are in good condition, you're jet's aren't that worn, your carb isn't to gummed up etc... If as part of fitting the kit you give the carbs a bit of a service you will see some improvement and probably a noticeable one.

I'm planning on fitting this to mine soon, and though you don't have to, it's looks a beast of a job if you don't. So it's best to whip the carbs off to fit the kit.

I did the conversion, Makes tickover much smoother about 750/800 rpm.
In my opinion, well worth doing.
I took my carbs. off to do it.
