Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Front bumper mounts - help !

Postby tr7dan » 10 Feb 2015 19:29

Can anyone help?
I took the front bumper off a long time ago and seem to have misplaced the fasteners that hold it on the car.

The flexible mounting blocks that are fixed to the back of the bumper have three 8mm short threaded studs on each side that locate in the mountings on the car but the oblong holes in the mountings are much bigger than a standard 8mm nut and washer - can anyone tell me how the bumpers mount to the car ?

Should I have some large diameter washers to go at the back of the mountings and if so what size are they ?

I have a box with a lot of fasteners and brackets and bits that I took off the car and had zinc plated so they are probably in there - it's just identifying them

cheers

Dan

Hi Dan,
Somewhere in your box of fittings you should find 6 large washers about 25mm dia with a flat edge, about 2mm thick. Use these plus a spring washer and nut. The elongated holes in the body are there to allow some side to side movement of the bumper so you can line it up nicely. If you can't find the original washers just use some thick penny washers. Thanks Andy

when you say with a flat edge do you mean 'D' shaped ?

Yes, 'D' shaped would be a better description. [:)]
