Dash board mounting

Here’s where to discuss anything specific about your standard(ish) car or something that applies to the model in general.

Dash board mounting

Postby Dave Dyer » 23 Jan 2015 20:58

Hi,
I'm just about to fit the Dash board (Fascia?) but on the passenger side, should there be a metal rail running across (in front of the glove box) or does the plastic dash just screw to a bracket?
Its just I have the metal 'rail' but not sure if its needed!

Cheers,
Dave

Depends what model year your car is.
Early cars had a slightly different dash assembly ...

Couple of pictures of my old car I'm breaking which might help. Showing what is left after the plastic dash is removed.

Thanks Chaps,
I seem to think this metal rail I have is from an early car, you say the Dash changed so I need to look at that really.

Russ, only one picture is showing? But it does show the bracket on the right of the photo.

I did take photos of when I removed it, but as that was 20 years ago, they won't be on my computer but on film buried in the attic!

Dave, just re-done the photo links and checked. They seem OK now - but then they did when I checked them first time. Just love Photobucket!

There were no signs of any other supports, the car is a 1980 DHC.
