Gearbox drain and filler plugs

Postby scribe » 03 Feb 2014 19:17

Hi,

Feeling a little silly asking this but...

So, after looking at my spare engine and 5 speed box sitting on my driveway for the last 4 months, I decided to separate everything ready for refurb. First job I wanted to do was to drain the gearbox, but no, the biggest spanner I had was 22mm, but it wasn't big enough.

Anyone know the size of the spanner I need for the gearbox filler and drain plug?

The workshop manual lists the plug as 3/8, but that's about 10mm (so I assume that's the thread) and I can't find another reference.

Need to add to my spanner collection, but good quality ones are getting expensive that big so want to be sure of the size.

Cheers

Chris
