Fresh Air plenum

Were there different styles of fresh air plenum?

I got a used one and it fouls out on my hood latch assembly. I can make it fit fine with a couple "taps" from the ball-peen hammer.

My 81 has accommodations for clips, and the plenum has the latches. Did the latch assembly move when they went to the double bump hood/bonnet?

The very early(1975)models had the plenums fixed by screws, the later cars(1976 on) were fixed by the clips. Apart from the fixings there is little difference between the two.

If you look closely at the fire wall, you will see two sheet metal lips pointing up. The bottom edge of the plenum has to slip into those lips. Also, the release cable for the hood latch goes behind the plenum against the fire wall.

Mine always rides against the distributer cap and the vacuum hoses for the brakes.

Hey Tim,

I thought I sent an FI version plenum. However, if not, you can relocate the latch assembly. There are two mounting points. You can move them to whatever location works.

Yes, Tim is right. I have parted more than my share of 7s over the years. As such I have a surplus of common parts. You need a starter, alternator, Crane/allison ignition, distributor, strut tubes/spindles, and other common stuff, I probably have it.

I have FI exhaust manifolds and right now I have an old used pacesetter header set aside I will not use.

Most of the stuff is packed away in boxes. I hate to sound grumpy, but I would rather not supply 5 or 10 dollar items unless you want several of them. It just takes too much time to find, box, and ship for $5 or $10.

However, right now I am having a "special TR7 short block givaway sale." If you are willing to pick them up, I have a couple nice use TR7 short blocks.
