Have you checked the vacuum advance FI, both the hoses & diaphragm could be leaking giving those symptoms.

It only has vacuum retard and it has never been connected.

Back in the day with a 2.0L engine a leaking / perished breather hose gave me erratic idling speeds.
It had perished on the underside so looked fine from above.
